HISTORY OF US
Better Together Indonesia Foundation (BTIF) is a Non-Government Organization that was established in August 2020, situated in the capital city of Indonesia, Jakarta. Our primary mission is to facilitate sustainable tourism stakeholders in raising funds to support their livelihoods. We aim to cover them all, but for the first year, we will first focus on Eastern Indonesia before we tackle the rest of Indonesia. As we progress, our vision extends towards developing Better Together Indonesia into a crowdfunding platform to broaden our impact and scope.
The foundation comprises three founders, each hailing from distinct regions, yet united by a shared passion for sustainable development.
Ms. Tari Savitri, the first founder, is renowned as the driving force behind the Papua Explorer Foundation. With her role as the managing partner of the Papua Explorer Dive Resort, Ms. Savitri has garnered international recognition, including prestigious awards such as the Best Dive Resort in the UK and the Environmental Award bestowed by the Association of Dive Tour Operators in Germany.
The second founder, Mr. Fuad Andhika Rahman, established the Bale Nara Foundation, dedicated to poverty alleviation projects among coffee farmers in Lombok island. Focusing on coffee ecotourism, Mr. Rahman’s endeavors aim to enhance the quality of local coffee for export purposes, thereby uplifting the livelihoods of the community.
Mrs. Theresia Susanti Asih, the third founder, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to Better Together Indonesia Foundation. Her tenure as a government officer at the Ministry of Marine Affairs equips her with invaluable insights into marine conservation policies and practices. Furthermore, her role as the visionary behind the Kapela Foundation, Indonesia’s largest diver’s community, underscores her dedication to fostering community empowerment and environmental stewardship.
In recognition of their exemplary contributions to sustainable tourism, all three founders have been honored as recipients of the Australia Award. Through intensive training and mentorship provided by Professors Noel Scott and Bill Carter from Griffith University, Australia, the founders have honed their skills and deepened their understanding of sustainable development principles.
Originally embarking on individual projects, the founders soon realized the power of collaboration and synergy in achieving greater impact. This realization culminated in the establishment of Better Together Indonesia Foundation, a testament to the ethos of unity and collective endeavor in driving sustainable development efforts across Indonesia. As champions of collaboration and innovation, BTIF continues to pioneer initiatives that foster lasting positive change in communities and ecosystems nationwide.
